Black screen behind the game
On some setups a black box renders behind the game's transparent window after a patch or a display change. Fix it in this order:
- While the game is running, press Shift+F12, then Shift+F11 — this resets the window position and scale and clears most cases.
- If it persists, close the game, right-click TaskBarHero.exe → Properties → Compatibility tab → tick Disable fullscreen optimizations → Apply, then relaunch.
- Still stuck? Update your GPU drivers and check the official Discord — the devs have shipped hotfixes for this and post current workarounds.
Window vanished or off-screen
Most often this happens after unplugging, adding, or changing a monitor — the game's window is positioned on a display that's no longer there. While it's running, press Shift+F12 to snap the window back to your primary display. There's also an in-game "restore window" button you can use if the UI is partly visible.
UI is the wrong size or misaligned
Press Shift+F11 to reset the interface scale to default. Because the game reshapes itself to live in the taskbar, scaling can drift after resolution or DPI changes; this hotkey is the reset.
Shift+F12 = reset window position · Shift+F11 = reset UI scale. They solve the large majority of display problems.
Won't launch or keeps crashing
General Steam-game fixes apply here:
- Steam → right-click the game → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files
- Update your graphics drivers (NVIDIA/AMD/Intel)
- Update Windows and the Visual C++ redistributables
