Is the Hunter DLC worth it?

Short answer: if you want to push the hardest difficulties as fast as possible, yes — and if you're happy progressing a bit slower, no, it's optional. The Hunter brings the game's highest single-target damage plus elemental crossbow bolts that also hit groups, so it both deletes bosses and helps clear packs. It's the single biggest power purchase in the game. That said, nothing is gated behind it: a free team built around the Sorcerer clears all content. Buy the Hunter for speed and to back the devs, not because you have to.

Buy it if…

You're enjoying the game, want faster boss clears and the strongest party, and don't mind paying. Skip it if you're casual or strictly free-to-play — the Sorcerer covers the damage slot fine.

Stat & affix priority

The Hunter is a glass-cannon damage dealer — build pure offense and let the Knight tank for it.

PriorityStatsWhy
1AttackThe base everything scales from.
2Crit Chance / Crit DamageThe biggest damage multipliers.
3Attack SpeedMore bolts = more procs of its elemental/AoE effects.
4A little HP / survivabilityJust enough not to die before the tank holds the line.

How to play it

The Hunter sits behind your tank and fires automatically, so the "play" is really the build: stack damage and keep it alive. It needs a front-liner — pair it with the Knight so it never gets focused down. Spend skill points every level and lean into whatever amplifies its elemental bolts and multi-hits. Concentrate your best offensive gear here; the Hunter is where damage investment pays off most.

Best team for the Hunter

The Hunter slots into the consensus best party in the game:

  • Knight + Hunter + Priest — tank, top DPS, healer. The Knight holds the front, the Priest keeps the Hunter alive and buffs it, and the Hunter melts everything.

For boss walls, stack even more crit and attack on the Hunter and let the other two enable it. See the best team guide for situational comps.

Hunter vs. Ranger vs. Sorcerer

  • vs. Ranger: the Hunter is a straight upgrade for ranged damage — higher ceiling and group hits. Once you own the Hunter, the free Ranger usually leaves the team.
  • vs. Sorcerer: the Sorcerer is the best free damage and clears packs well, but the Hunter wins on single-target/boss damage. Free players run Sorcerer; payers run Hunter (or both, on different teams).

FAQ

Attack, crit chance/damage, attack speed; just enough survivability to not die first.
