Where the Ranger sits
The Ranger is a clean, uncomplicated free ranged damage dealer — a great character for your first hours. The reason it lands at B-tier is competition, not weakness: the paid Hunter does ranged damage with a higher ceiling and group hits, while the free Sorcerer clears packs better. So in an optimized team the Ranger usually gets benched. Think of it as an excellent bridge, not a long-term core.
