Is the Slayer DLC worth it?
Of the paid classes, the Slayer is the easiest to skip. It's a perfectly enjoyable melee damage bruiser with kill-scaling that feels great when it's rolling — but it doesn't fill a gap your team needs. Most comps already run the free Knight as the melee/tank, and the open slots want a ranged damage dealer (the Hunter or Sorcerer) for safety. So the Slayer ends up competing for a slot that's usually better filled by something else.
Buy it for variety once you already own the essentials. If you're only buying one paid class, make it the Hunter — it's a far bigger power jump.
Stat & affix priority
| Priority | Stats | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Attack | Feeds its kill-scaling damage. |
| 2 | Crit Chance / Crit Damage | Big multipliers on a bruiser. |
| 3 | Attack Speed | Faster kills = faster snowball. |
| 4 | HP / survivability | It fights in melee — enough bulk to stay in. |
How to play it
The Slayer wants to be in the thick of it, racking up kills to ramp its damage. Build it offensive but with enough HP to survive melee range, and keep a Priest behind it for sustain. Like every hero it auto-fights, so the work is in the build and in pairing it with a tank so it isn't the one eating boss hits.
Slayer vs. Knight
This is the key comparison, since they overlap:
- Knight (free): the better all-rounder — tanks and deals damage, anchors every team, costs nothing.
- Slayer (paid): leans harder into damage but is squishier and doesn't tank as well, so it can't simply replace the Knight's anchor role.
In practice you keep the Knight up front and the Slayer would have to earn a damage slot — one most teams give to a ranged hero. That's the whole reason it's B-tier.
Best teams for the Slayer
If you run it, treat it as a second bruiser behind the Knight with a Priest for sustain. It works, but for tougher content most players get more from a ranged damage dealer in that slot. See the best team guide for the comps that win.
FAQ

The most skippable paid class — fun, but overlaps the free Knight. Buy the Hunter first if choosing one.
What stats should I build?
Attack, crit chance/damage, attack speed, with enough HP to survive melee.
Slayer or Knight?
Knight — better all-rounder and free. The Slayer leans damage but can't replace the Knight's anchor role.
